We did eat Marker Cafe one day and the food is fine, but no view and it is buffet. Nice, not crowded restaurant staring at the water as opposed to the Market Cafe which is up near the main part of the hotel. In addition, Preferred Club has access to Oceana for breakfast. As I mentioned at the top and I will say again, having the personal service from Carlos is worth it right off the top. Room: We stayed in the Preferred Club and the rest of our party stayed in the regular Secrets rooms. Coming back, they drop you right at the door. One point to note is that in leaving the airport, we had to walk over a bridge to get to the Uber so if you have mobility issues, that may be a consideration. We walked out of the airport and grabbed an Uber for $5 that took us the 10 mins to the hotel. If you are comfortable traveling, I wouldn't bother. Transportation: Your travel agent or booking site will try to talk you into setting up a transfer from the airport to the hotel. If you are talking less than $50 day.personal decision and I am on vacation. The price difference isn't that much and while you could conceivably stay in Dreams and just walk across to Secrets, there are a couple restaurant restrictions and I wouldn't want the hassle of the longer walks whenever I want to go to my room. Secrets vs Dreams: I would go Secrets every time if you want Adults Only. Sweating by the pool is one thing, at 10pm in dinner clothes is another. In the evening we would sit in the lobby bar (wide open) and it was 85 degrees, feels like 97 due to humidity. My wife and I typically go to Mexico in late Fall or early Spring. We went in July because of an anniversary. Weather: Don't go in the summer unless you like brutally hot weather. Me personally, I like both and can always oscillate. If you hang out by the pools and want the scenery, I would go PVR. So if you are a hardcore, need to be in the sand person, I would go Caribbean. However, looking left and right down the coast, PVR is absolutely beautiful with the Mountains heading down into the water. PVR had a lot of rocks at the water line and walking into the water. Seriously, they are that good!! Pacific vs Caribbean: Caribbean (Cancun and Riviera Maya) has better beaches, hands down. The only time I have received service near this level was at a boutique resort in Curacao that cost 2-3X as much. Even when out by the pool or in the cabanas Carlos would come and find us to make sure everything was ok and we didn't need anything. We rented private cabanas on the beach and had great service from Alejandro, Edgar and Hugo. Jose Becerra is his partner and helps behind the scenes. Carlos Miranda was our Butler in the Preferred Club and the personalized service he provides is absolutely unmatched. I am about to go into a lot of details, but before that let me give an incredible shoutout to the service. If you upgrade to the Preferred Club, you'll get perks like a spacious sitting area, complimentary newspaper delivery and access to the Preferred Club Lounge, where continental breakfast, afternoon hors d'oeuvres and desserts are served daily. We recently returned from a 5 night trip to Secrets Vallarta to celebrate in-laws anniversary. And the 271 suites stay on-theme with marble floors, satellite TVs, iPod docks and private terraces or balconies. The sleek 14,000-square-foot Secrets Spa by Pevonia adds to that effect with its unique body treatments and massages, like seaweed body wraps and hot stone therapies. Guests appreciate this Secrets outpost's elegant yet laid-back vibe and (unlimited) poolside cocktails. However, there is one major difference between these two resorts: Secrets Vallarta Bay is an adults-only property. And along with several gourmet dining venues and a buffet at this AMResorts property, guests can also sample the fare at Now Amber's eateries, thanks to the Sip, Savor & See Dining Experience. Like its sister resort, Now Amber Puerto Vallarta, Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta overlooks the Pacific coast and offers guests the same access to El Malecón's entertainment.
